THE HISTORY OF THE FORD MUSTANG V8 289Ci

The 1960s were marked by the birth of true automotive legends. It was at this time that Ford established itself with the myth GT40 but also the cult Mustang! The Mustang, a very popular car at the time due to its affordable price and unique style. A sporty, aggressive and slender line. The Mustang has earned a deserved place in the muscle car category in the United States.

Produced from 1964, the Mustang, the first vintages are from 1965. A true sports car at heart, it is equipped at entry level with a 6-cylinder in-line (170 ci) then with several V8 engines (289 ci) variant from 200 to 271 horsepower.

The Mustang offers 3 body types: coupe, convertible or fastback.

The Mustang is a return to the past of the thirty glorious years. Where “always more” was not restricted by anti-pollution standards and where consumption was not a purchasing criterion. With a combined consumption of 15 liters per 100 km, the Mustang is not the most reasonable, but compensates with easy maintenance at the right price. Simple in its design, it does not suffer from reliability problems and ages respectfully well.

FEATURES OF THE FORD MUSTANG V8 289Ci

The V8 of this 289Ci Mustang offers a throaty and ear-pleasing sound, typical of American cars of this era. Our model is equipped with an automatic gearbox, but there are also versions with a three- or four-speed mechanical gearbox.

Our 200 horsepower V8 version climbs from 0 to 100 km/h in around ten seconds. It can reach 190km/h at maximum speed.

The interior takes us back to the 1960s in a fraction of a second. A trip back in time with soft and comfortable vinyl seats, without headrests. Finishes that combine refinement and elegance of which we surprise ourselves by admiring all the details. At the rear, there are two spacious seats.

When it was released, the Mustang GT 289Ci could be supplemented with numerous options, including the three-speed Cruise O-Matic automatic transmission like here, or even padded sun visors, rear seat belts, reversing lights, air conditioning and even a front bench seat with arm rest, for an American-style atmosphere, ideal for cruising along Route 66. Our version is therefore very well optioned for an undeniable look and optimal comfort.
