THE HISTORY OF THE FORD MUSTANG V8 289Ci

The 1960s were marked by the birth of true automotive legends. It was during this time that Ford made its mark with the GT40 myth as well as the iconic Mustang! The Mustang, highly sought after at the time for its affordable price and unique style, features a sporty, aggressive, and sleek line. The Mustang rightfully earned its place in the muscle car category in the United States.

Produced starting from 1964, with the first model years being 1965, the Mustang was a true sports car at heart. It came standard with a 6-cylinder inline engine (170 ci) and was available with several V8 engines (289 ci) ranging from 200 to 271 horsepower.

The Mustang offered three types of body styles: coupe, convertible, or fastback.

The Mustang represents a journey back to the prosperous thirty years. A time when the “always more” wasn’t hampered by anti-pollution standards and where fuel consumption wasn’t a buying criterion. With a mixed fuel consumption of 15 liters per 100 km, the Mustang is not the most reasonable, but it makes up for this with easy maintenance at a correct price. Simple in its design, it doesn’t suffer from reliability issues and ages quite gracefully.

FEATURES OF THE FORD MUSTANG V8 289Ci

The V8 engine of this Mustang 289ci offers a throaty and flattering sound to the ear, typical of American cars of that era. Our model features an automatic transmission, but there are also versions with a three or four-speed manual gearbox.

Our 200-horsepower V8 version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just under ten seconds. It can reach a top speed of 190 km/h (approximately 118 mph).

The interior instantly transports you back to the 1960s. A time travel experience with vinyl seats that are soft and comfortable, without headrests. The finishes combine refinement and elegance, inviting admiration of every detail. The back offers two spacious seats.

Upon its release, the Mustang GT 289 ci could be equipped with numerous options, including the three-speed Cruise O-Matic automatic transmission as seen here, as well as padded sun visors, rear seat belts, reverse lights, air conditioning, and even a front bench seat with armrests for a true American vibe, perfect for cruising along Route 66. Our version is thus very well-equipped for an undeniable look and optimal comfort.

RENT THE JAMES BOND GOLDFINGER FORD MUSTANG !

In cinema, the Ford Mustang remains an undeniable icon. Remember the 1964 film Goldfinger… Yes, it’s the Mustang 289ci that appears on screen in the third installment of James Bond!

In that scene, Tilly Masterson, played by Tania Mallet, tries to escape James Bond on a winding road through the Swiss mountains. After catching up to her, agent 007 activates a device that extends a spike from the wheels of the DB5, puncturing the tires of the Mustang. The scene is memorable. In a configuration nearly identical to that of the film, our Mustang V8 289ci convertible puts you in the shoes of Tania Mallet, but without the worry of having Sean Connery on your tail!
